This directory contains a netCDF file containing the OceanSODA-ETHZ2 data for the GCB 2025 submission. The original data was created at 8-day by 0.25° x 0.25° and was resampled to monthly by 1° x 1° for the GCB submission.

Processing

Oceanic fCO2: gridded to 8-day by 0.25° x 0.25° resolution using unweighted gridding.
Atmospheric xCO2: A regression between NOAA-MBL and Mauna Loa is used to extrapolate the NOAA-MBL data for 2024. Thereafter, NOAA-MBL is linearly interpolated to a 0.25° latitudinal grid. Finally, it is multiplied with ERA5 sea level pressure (corrected for pH2O) to arrive at pCO2 and then converted to fCO2.
SST: data are simply used consecutively.
Salinity: gaps in ESA-CCI data are filled with the SODA v3.15.2 data (in both space and time). The CMEMS-multiobs data are used for the last missing time steps in SODA v3.15.2.
Chlorophyll: cloud gaps are filled with an iterative SVD filling approach based on DINEOF.
Wind speed: computed with sqrt(u^2 + v^2) at the hourly resolution and then resampled to 1M.

Regions and abbreviations are from Fay and McKinley (2014). No weighting is applied to samples when calculating the aggregated uncertainties.
